Hi, guys! It’s me again. After a long hiatus from blogging, I am back with brand-new experiences that I am very eager to share with all of you. Keep reading as I take your imagination to an exciting get-away in Greece.
My first time in Greece was two years ago when I celebrated my birthday in Santorini. That was an awesome summer in July, and since it was peak season, my travel, then, was a lot more expensive. Greece is an adorably amazing and captivatingly beautiful country, and despite the extravagance of going there, anyone who does traveling for passion would always want to come back. As for me, I returned to Greece, but this time, to explore the island of Zakynthos. Yup, my trip still spelled luxury, but, I can say that, for this Greek Encounter, I’ve been totallyspend-smart. (Read more to find out how.)
Zakynthos, or Zante, is an island located west of Athens. It is dubbed as “the flower of the Levant,” which depicts it as one of the most scenic and magnificent of all the islands in the Eastern Mediterranean.
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
Zakynthos is a highly-recommended place to visit for luxurious jetsetters. But no one says that budget-conscious travelers can’t go there too. Here are some helpful tips for you should you wish to put Zakynthos as one of the travel destinations in your bucket list.
• Go there around September or October (Autumn)
o It is Lean Season! Airfares and hotel accommodations are a lot cheaper
o The must-go places do not get too crowded – perfect for capturing great photos without the annoying photobombers in the background.
o Great weather and low chance of rainfall. It is almost sunny throughout the day, the air is neither too hot nor too cold, and the beach waters are considerably warm
•Do not go there when you are alone
o A solo trip to Zakynthos may still be expensive even during lean season
o A travel with family or friends may cut your travel expenses by almost half
•Do not go there between November to March
o Majority of the hotels in Zakynthos are closed during this period and you are not likely to find any tours during this period
o Winter is a bit harsh in Zakynthos; unless you are Elsa and the cold doesn’t bother you anyway… hahaha…
BEST WAY TO GET THERE
On board the airplane going to Zakynthos, I decided to take a short nap. But just when I was about to get my REM on tops, we have already reached the island. Turned out, Zakynthos is just a 50-minute flight away from Athens.
There are quite a few travel options going to the island, unless you are Superman or Captain Jack Sparrow, or unless you can teleport, I highly recommend that you take a plane.
•Travel to Zakynthos via Sky Express. While there are many scheduled flights offered by different regional airlines, only Sky Express have good flight schedules that can help you maximize your check-in and check-out time perfectly.
•Airfare from Athens to Zakynthos ranges between 6,000 – 8,000 Php two-way during lean season
BEST PLACE TO STAY
Zakynthos is a place that not-so-many ventures on trying, especially if they are highly budget-conscious and not up for a luxurious spend. If you are working on a budget, there are actually a lot of hotels available online. But if you are after the splendid experience, and if you don’t mind spending much for as long as it is worth it, here’s a guide for you, should you wish to visit Zakynthos anytime soon.

How I wish that three days can last for weeks ‘coz there are a lot about Zakynthos that I cannot get enough of. As much as I don’t want my vacation to end, I am very excited for what lies ahead and what is yet to come. Altogether, I would have to say that my stay in beautiful Zante was a very memorable one. And I do hope that when you visit Zakynthos, you will enjoy the place as much as I did.
